EIGHTEEN
Dropping 25 Jun 2026
eighteen is an atmospheric, indie pop track about the guilt, regret, & uncertainty that can come with leaving a relationship you still deeply love. Written as track four on my upcoming debut EP, following the story of my first queer relationship, the song captures the painful tension between comfort & self-discovery, and the emotional aftermath of choosing yourself when it feels like the wrong decision.
Sonically, eighteen mirrors its emotional storyline. Strong, driving guitars hold the weight of the track while soft keys create moments of vulnerability & restraint. The vocal acts as the emotional centrepiece of the song — exposed, intimate, & often isolated — with the instrumentation moving around it to reflect the constant push & pull of the relationship itself.
Taking inspiration from Lizzy McAlpine, Bruce Springsteen, & The 1975, “eighteen” explores the fear of growing up, letting go of what feels safe, and living with the regret that can follow life-altering choices
